Platty was taking Max to the airport by river.

They would take the Brisbane River which flowed from the dam.. it was so beautiful... and Max was so excited as he rode on Platty's back.
On the way he would travel past the home of his friend Alex!
Sadly Max and Platty had a long way to go so they could not stop to say hello to Alex.
