Subject: I found Max!

Dear Alex,

Tonight after I read your story, I thought I saw gray fuzz sticking out of my toy bin. Sure enough, when I checked, there was Max! He said he came over just so he could keep me company tonight -- so tomorrow morning, I will put him on the first flight back Down Under to Australia. He promises to come back to southwestern Virginia, USA and visit me as soon as his next adventure is done. That should be about tomorrow night some time. *grin*

My name is Alena Naff and I am an 8-year-old girl in third grade near Blacksburg, Virginia. I might send you another adventure for your stories of Max. Don't you think Max should have a last name? Is Max your pet? If he is, do you live in Australia, because if you didn't, he would probably die, because he would not have regular food. If you don't live in Australia then what does he eat?

How old are you? Do you go to school? When you get this letter, please write me back and fill in the questions.

Thank you and 'bye'... *** Alena ***

Dear Alex,

We are in K/1/2S at Mount Brown School in Dapto - which is near Wollongong.

We are in Kindergarten.

We read your story about Max finding his Mum. We thought it was really great.

Next week some other kids will read another one of your stories.

At our school, we have possums in the gum trees not Koalas. We don't see them because they don't come out in the day time when we are at school. Goodbye

I am a teacher in Florida. One of the 3rd grade classes is working on writing their own stories and we checked out the website -Alex's Scribbles for them to see examples of stories written by children. They enjoyed the stories about Max.

On your website it asked if we had any ideas for new adventures. The class had several ideas

1)Have Max get captured by a zoo and his mummy has to go get him.
2)Have Max visit the U.S.

Also we are studying weather and were wondering if you could email us back how the weather is there and if you ever have any dangerous weather where you live.
