I really liked reading your story and clicking to get the next page. I wrote a story for kid pub but it wasn't illustrated. Maybe my Dad can show me how you do that. I'm still just learning how to use the computer.

I'm going to read another one of your stories.

Hi Alex!

Great story that you wrote, I liked it alot! Especially the pictures. You really deserve that award because your stories are great. We have Enya and Loreena McKennit's music too and like it very much.

I should be in school today (2nd grade at St. Matthew's) but I am sick. But finding out that Max was no longer lost and that you got that great award makes me happy. I can't wait to find out what adventure Max has with Bob the Butterfly.

Oh, by the way, my sister is 11 and she says that in Australia you have the opposite seasons that we have. We just had summer which is really hot and sunny and she said you would have been having the opposite- cold and with short days like our winter. It that true? Do you still call it summer? Or when we are having our summer do you call the season you are having "winter?"

My mother has relatives in Australia and she said at Christmas she would get cards with pictures from them showing them having a barbeque picnic around the pool at Christmas time when she was shoveling snow in New York (USA).

Well, Mom is typing this for me because my stomach hurts. I hope you keep writing your stories. Are you writing about butterflies because they are just arriving in Australia? It is fall here in New York and all the butterflies are gone- they all flew south to keep warm, we only see a few orange ones- monarchs- who must be slow flyers or lost. Gotta go!

I loved your story.

Koala bears are my favorite animal, but I have never seen a real one. I live in Des Moines, Iowa, so, of course, there are none here. I loved the picture of you holding Cindy, the koala. I wish I was as lucky as you to be able to actually hold one. I have a collection of koalas. I have about 35 teddy bear type koalas and several wotnot koalas. I also have a few koala shirts, and pins, and earrings.

Thankyou for writing the stories and for the cute drawings you added to them. I am really enjoying them.

Your stories have been great.

I was having a look for my nephew Bradley but I think people of all ages can enjoy reading about Max's adventures.

Don't worry about replying to this note as I am sure you have a lot of other things to do.

I wish you and your family well in the future.

Alex...

Congratulations on your award. You, and Max, and your family are very deserving of the prize you received at Sydney. Your website is a perfect example of how people can be united around the world!

A question, please -- Do you draw into a computer program like Coreldraw, or MS Draw? Or do you draw on paper, and then scan the drawing into the computer? Either way, it's very good.

Take care, and keep the stories coming!

Dear Alex & Max,

Our class enjoyed all the wonderful pictures and information you shared with us about your awards ceremony in Sydney. Actually, you were the highlight of our second grade classes today, Oct. 10, as we celebrated our state's progress in connecting all school systems in Tennessee to the Internet.

Our class has been reading and re-reading your wonderful stories, so we decided to share you with some other classes. Your URL is being shared with our other grade levels. We also appreciate the certificate you have provided. We have decided to color our own and see if we can color as well as you do.

Thanks for Koala Trouble!

Dear Alex,

Mummy, Daddy and I have just read some stories before going to bed. We would like to read a story about Max's first day at pre-school.

I am 3 1/2 and have been going to pre-school for three months now ... and I have lots of friends at pre-school. I'm sure that Max will have too!

Love the stories ... can't wait to read about Max at pre-school.

fond regards,
Alice Heininger.

Greetings,

My name is Jacob Schulz and I am working with Dr. Donald Leu of Syracuse University in New York, USA. He is currently writing a book on the uses of the internet for our classrooms. In the course of his research, he came across your web-site (http://www.peg.apc.org/~balson/story/). We are very interested in including a reproduction of it in our book.

If you could send me the name and real world address of someone who can help me, I would be happy to send you our permissions release form for your perusal.

Thank you, in advance, for all your help.

Sincerely,

Dear Alex,

We think your story is quite lovely. We think you are a very good artist. This is one of our favorite stories. We liked the part where Platty saved Max and then the tree went under water. That was a close call! We hope that you will write more stories of Platty and Max!

Max smells a lovely cup of tea and would like to drink it, and he makes friend with the wombat.
