Subject: re class project

Dear Alex,

Our class visited your site and we thoroughly enjoyed your stories. My students are from Rohnert Park, California USA. We are a first and second grade class and have ages from 6 to 8 year olds! Many of them are reluctant writers- they don't like to write stories very much! I think it was great that they saw what a five year old did! It made them go into the room and try to write better because they were impressed. The principal of my school was very impressed too! He has a granddaughter close to your age! I am recommending it to all of the other classes for their computer lab time! I would love to have your talent in my classroom. We are e-mailing first and second graders from Victoria Australia and we are excited to know if they've read your stories! I bet they have! Thanks again!

Could you tell us how you come up with your ideas? What do you like to read about? Who is your favorite author? Have you read the author Mem Fox? We are reading Cynthia Rylant's series of Henry and Mudge adventures in our class! We think you'd like them! Do you want to be an author of children's books when you grow up? Do you want to be an artist?

Thanks again! From sunny California! I hope you have a map of all of the responses you get. We keep a map on our wall and put pins in it of people we e-mail! Let us know where you are from so that we can put a pin in to honor our visit with you!

THANKS MRS. LAWS 1/2 grade class

Subject: Ideas for Max stories

>From Jack Fowles (age 5 and-a-half) ...

Max went in a car and he went to his Grandpa's house. He saw Platty there and they played chasey. Then they played 'cops & robbers'. After that they have tea. Then there was a big, huge storm and then Max was frightened and so was Platty. But Grandpa turned out the lights and then they could see the storm and it was so fun. Grandpa said "It's time to go boys".

THE END

We think this web site is terrific! (From Will Fowles, age nineteen).

Hello, Alex.

Thank you for your wonderful site, I really enjoy reading your stories. You are extremely clever and talented. I teach student teachers and I have told them all to visit your site so that they can tell the children they teach all about it and let them visit it too. I wonder if you would allow me to use one of your drawings on my web site? It would really cheer me up and spread the word about your site too. I have put the one of Max on the flying carpet for now, but if you object I will take it off straight away.

Please have a look.

If I don't hear from you, I will assume that you don't mind. Keep up your wonderful work!

Thanks,
Jackie Marsh
