max and the earthquake.

One upon a time there was a very cute koala called Max.One day there was an earthquake and Max fell into Wivenhoe dam .The earthquake made earth come up in a volcano and Max was standing on it.The volcano was hot and there was lots of lava. But luckily there was lots of water around the volcano where the dam had been. The water stopped the lava at the bottom. Some people were flying over where he lived to explore it.They saw him. They lowered a rope. He grabbed onto it.They lifted him up and took him to a new tree with a new dam.And he was able to live there happily ever after.

Subject: Saying hi from New Westminster, Canada

Hi Alex, my name is Aaron.

Where will you live in Australia when you grow up? I will live in Australia when I grow up also. We will probably be friends and I am six right now.

I would also like to meet Steven (the Crocodile Hunter) and maybe you would also. I really like boas. We could study boas and learn more about them.

It's very cold here right now because it is winter. I know where you live it's probably warm.

I live in New Westminster which is near Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. We are close to the ocean, and there are nice mountains all around us. Our city is on the bank of the Fraser river, one of the largest rivers in the world, famous for its salmon.

I'm in grade one also.

I like your drawings, I really like to draw to. Maybe we will talk again on e-mail.

Please send me an email, my address is apurdey@dowco.com

Subject: thankyou

Dear Alex and Max

Thankyou for your beautiful stories and illustrations.

Yesterday I broke my arm and while I was waiting for a doctor at the hospital I picked up a magazine and saw an article on you and your wonderful stories. They have cheered me up no end.

I especially like your use of colour. Absolutely beautiful!

What also interested me was the point of view from which you draw. In your story about going to Perth ( where I am from actually) you drew Max and Platty from a "bird's eye view". It occured to me that I don't think I have ever seen a child draw from that perspective before. I certainly didn't when I was younger. I guess that just goes to show what an amazing person you must be. I very much like the way you look at the world! I hope you're still having fun with Max

Thankyou again Alex

Your friend
Zoe Finlay-Jones

Subject: Max's adventure

Dear Alex,

I think Max should have an adventure in the land of silly dinosaurs (called Sillysaurus Africa). The dinosaurs who live there hold soda cans in their hands and they all wear sunglasses. Platty and Max almost get swallowed by hot lava coming out of two erupting volcanos. They run far enough away that a giant tree is able to suck up all of the hot lava and they are safe. THE END
